AbstractHistoryArchive Description
This is a study of the adoption and spread of technology in the Victorian printing industry at the turn of the century. Emphasis is given to newspaper and commercial printing firms; a significant book printing industry was not yet established. The thesis concludes that a poor technical education system and the absence of tariffs contributed to the slow uptake of new technology in the printing industry.
