At a New Rush in Victoria,
single work
short story
humour
A well written account of a rumour of gold, the rush, and subsequent disappointment - narrated with a dry sense of humour: 'With these remembrances there comes the wild desire to be again in the virgin country, with the grass growing in the tent threshold... I, sir, who am now being dandled in the lap of luxury, and 'move' daily from the drawing-room to dinner'.
