AbstractHistoryArchive Description
Although not strictly an opera, The Passion has dramatic qualities. The lyrics are adapted from the Gospel of St Matthew and other sacred books and the work is divided dramatically into six scenes. The music was provided by American composer Bernard Rogers (1893-1968). (David Diamond 'Bernard Rogers' Musical Quarterly 33.2 (1947): 207-227.)
