Simon Patton discusses two (unattributed) poems by Luke Beesley used as decoration on the Eleanor Schonell Bridge over the Brisbane River, Brisbane, Queensland. The physical constraints of the bridge affect the interpretation of the poems.

Author's note: A third poem by Samuel Wagan Watson (also unattributed) appears on the handrail of the pedestrian bridge. Because this poem is not implicated in the same technical problems as those affecting Luke Beesley's, I have not discussed it here.
