Author's note: The story was told in an English class many years ago in the heat of a summery afternoon. I was among this group of people of different nationalities who had arrived in Brisbane as migrants and refugees. Most of us had very limited English at the time. Following the instructions of the teacher, each of us had to tell a tale that we remembered. Well, there was a refugee from South America who told this tale, and I have never forgotten it.
