  • Dedication: In memory of my father, John Lawrence Tierney 1892-1972, bush boy of Eurunderee, via Mudgee, NSW, where his father taught Henry Lawson, and who borrowed my Christian names, Brian James, as his own pen name, and mother, Effie Isabel Tierney (nee Brodie) 1897-1976, who spent the first months of her life in a tent while her father was a civil engineer building a railway in Western Australia and whose great grand uncle was Hamilton Hume, the first Australian-born explorer.- Brian James Hume Tierney
