Author's note: Speaking to ABC Radio producer Jane Ulman and sound engineer Phillip Ulman, Les Murray said of this work-in-progress: 'I'll tell you what it is: a friend of mine, translator, absolutely bilingual, name of Margitt Lehbert, lives in Sweden, wanted a summer poem because there she is in the middle of the Swedish winter'.
