Editor's note: I had a letter from award-winning Brisbane-based poet David Rowbotham last month, asking if the ALR would consider some new poems for publication. 'I am 85 and nearly blind,' Rowbotham wrote, 'and I would be deeply grateful if you could publish these last few poems best representing my new poems 2009.' I sent the package on to the ALR's poetry adviser Jaya Savige, as it's his job to select the poems we publish, but I held one back: 'Kings and Songs and Kisses'.
