Author's note: Background: Whilst dugai women croon their children to sleep with nursery rhymes and fables, little duhgle sit and listen to their mothers (aunts and grandmothers included), retell their stories of the past. The oral tradition continues to be the major form of communication in Aboriginal society and the following story is one which has often been told to me and has very special significance.
