The praise has been widespread and from the heart for boxing great Lionel Rose, who passed away on 8 May at the age of 62. Rose was the first Aboriginal boxer to win a world title, beating Japanese champion Fighting Harada in a memorable fight in Tokyo.

More than a world title, he also won the hearts of his people and a nation.
