Notes

  • The identity of Kendall's subjects here is not entirely clear. The 'possibles' include then New South Wales M.L.A.s David Buchanan (1823-1890) and John Davies (1839-1896), and the Victorian M.L.A. David Gaunson (1846-1909). All three became regular targets of Kendall's satire during the late 1870s and early 1880s, and at various points Kendall appears to have referred to all three as 'Davie'.
