On 21 August 2011 the Sunday Age asked readers to nominate their favourite Australian novels. Responses were published in the Sunday Age 29 August 2011 and included an annotated list of the following works Tirra Lirra by the River, Jessica Anderson; Mr Darwin's Shooter, Roger McDonald; The Tree of Man, Patrick White; Cloudstreet, Tim Winton; Such is Life, Tom Collins (Joseph Furphy); All the Green Year, D. E. Charlwood; The Harp in the South, Ruth Park; My Brother Jack, George Johnston; The Prince, Tim Richards and an unannotated list of a further 22 authors.
