The growth in the publication of Indigenous literature in Australia is one of the most significant recent developments. This article discusses the treatment of Indigenous cultural themes (sometimes by non-Indigenous people), issues that confront publishers when dealing with Indigenous writers and illustrators, and how the establishment (or consolidation) of Indigenous publishing houses has been a force for change.
