Author's note: "This is adapted and amplified from the Palinode of Stesichorus, fr. 11. He is said to have been stricken with blindness by the gods because of a poem he wrote about Helen of Troy. He recanted in the Palinode, of which three lines remain, and his sight was restored. I have used his three lines but added to them."
