BiographyHistory

Brian Taylor grew up in New Zealand and moved to Australia as a young man, after completing his studies at Lincoln University. He has been a stockman for most of his working life, and he has also been a sheep and cattle drover, a fencer, a shearer and a saddler. He was inducted to the Stockman's Hall of Fame in 1988 on which occasion he met the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

Taylor has written his recollections of the landscape, the animals, and the everyday life of traditional bush workers as he encountered them in the 50s and 60s, 'before the days of motorbikes and helicopters.' His published works reflect his long-standing interest in local and oral history.

In 2011, he lived with his family in the Toowoomba area, where they breed and train Arabian horses.
