AbstractHistoryArchive Description
The linked stories of War's End, set mainly in rural Victoria in the years immediately after the Second World War, are based on autobiographical experience and relate the development of a boy into adulthood, his quest for a heroic model, pursuit of his writing vocation and coming to terms with the failed figure of his father. (William H. Wilde et.al. The Oxford Companion to Australian Literature (1994): 694).
