AbstractHistoryArchive Description
Charles Barrett and his wife, Helen, accept an invitation from a local missionary, Webb, to join an expedition to visit Port Essington. The party explores the ruined settlement and its tiny graveyard, and Barrett muses on the miserable conditions its former inhabitants would have endured. The group entertain each other by telling stories of people's encounters with crocodiles, sharks and other hazards of the Northern Territory.
